Thank you to all of the parents who have helped me get to know our school better by giving me feedback on all the things you love about our school. This week I am asking for feedback on what you would like to see us Keep, Start or Stop – please share your thoughts here: https://forms.gle/nTNVCbiTLy47Awbz8
This information is also being sought from students and staff and will collectively help guide our next steps – your input is valued.
Last week our Friends of VAS put on a beautiful morning tea to say thank you to the staff and to welcome me to the school. Thank you to the parents who made all of the delicious food and who came along on the day. We feel very valued as a staff and are so grateful for your support and friendship.
This week I have continued to meet with staff and to engage will my colleagues in the Remuera Primary Principal’s Association (RPPA) and Auckland Central Community of Schools (ACCOS). Many of my colleagues I have known for a number of years and it is a pleasure to be working more closely with them for the benefit of all of our students.
This week at school we have had our Year 6 students visiting MOTAT and our middle and junior athletics days as well as a thank you morning tea for some of our support staff. Thank you to the teachers who have put on these events for our students and support staff. I have also enjoyed the visits from student to share their learning with me this week and have included a couple of photos of the great work happening in our school. Your children are a delight to be working with and I love seeing all of the amazing learning happening around the school, please encourage them to keep sharing with me!

Be Someone’s Angel this Christmas This year Victoria Avenue School will again be helping the Auckland City Mission to make Christmas special for families in need by collecting Christmas food and gifts for the Auckland’s Angels appeal. With the help of organisations like ours, the Mission last year distributed over 8,000 Christmas food parcels and over 30,000 gifts to people in our community, who could not otherwise afford to enjoy the festive season. This Christmas will be particularly hard for many Aucklanders, and our support is more important than ever. If you’d like to be someone’s Angel this Christmas, please drop off your donations of nonperishable food and new, unwrapped Christmas gifts at the office until 14 December. Suggested food donations include: tinned food (beans, soup, fish, vegetables), pasta, rice, spreads, cereals, muesli bars, flour, tea bags and Christmas treats. Gifts for all ages (including teenagers and adults) are hugely appreciated, as well as donations of wrapping paper and tape. The Mission suggests a budget of $10-$20 per gift. Alternatively you might want to make an online donation to the Mission at https://www.aucklandcitymission.org.nz/ Thank you for your support.
If you want to purchase uniform over the holidays, you can order online at https://victoriaave.com/product-category/vas-online-shop/uniform/ and collect your order at the uniform shop on Wednesday 27 January between 5.00-6.00pm.
Year 6 Leavers – if you would like a white polo for classmate signatures, these are available for $15 from the office or online shop.
We are looking for class parents for next year. This is a great way to get to know your child’s teacher and other parents in the class. If you are wanting to be involved this role can be done whether you are working or at home. It can fit around you.
Once you find out your children(s) classes for next year, please email Kristin at [email protected] with the name(s) of your child(ren), what year they will be in next year, and your contact number. Thanks so much.
Middle School Athletics Results
Remuera Zone Athletics
Last Monday the 26th of November, the VAS athletics team took part in the Remuera Zone Athletics day held at Mt Smart Stadium. The students put in some stellar performances and represented the school with distinction. They should all be extremely proud of their efforts.

Thank you to everyone for your support and contributions to our Family Favourites Cookbook.
We would like to gratefully acknowledge and thank Olivia and James Kirkpatrick for their generous support.
Thank you also to Pippa Mace and Mike Revill for their assistance in the production.
Finally the recipe book was created by Lucy Clark and Bex Knight. Thank you very much Lucy and Bex for all your hard work and effort making this project such a huge success, and raising $15,000 to finish the forest project.
