We all love to have fun and those who were at the Quiz night last Friday had a huge dose of fun! It was just such a great night. The organisation was superb, from the glass of bubbles as we went in, to the food, the MC, the quizmaster, the on line auction items and the live auction items. In fact, everything was brilliant. Oh yes, and the quiz itself was snappy and some of the questions tested our knowledge.
If you haven’t been to a Quiz night, you really should get together a group and come along. The various themes for each table were innovative and costumes ranged from lavish to bogan as well as pyjamas and dressing gowns! There is something about people being in costume that creates a great atmosphere right from the start.
As well as having fun, the main purpose was as a fundraiser. Around $47,000 was raised! What an amazing result….having huge amounts of fun while raising a lot of money, what a combination!
The $47,000 will be put to good use. Some of the funds will go towards further development of the forest area where the silver slide used to be. This project is already underway, with a group of parents getting together to design an exciting solution for this area. It is expected to be completed by early next year.
Some of the funds will be put towards continuing to employ our specialist teachers; Jason Des Forges, robotics, coding, GATE and technology specialist, Alison Laxon, music and GATE specialist, Carolyn Crook, special needs co ordinator and Julie Hadlow, English language learner specialist.
The rest of the money will go into the coffers for our exciting property initiatives. The board have been working with a facilitator to drill down into our property needs and what we would like for VAS moving into the future. We expect to have further information for the school community before the end of the year. Watch this space…..literally!
We were so lucky to have so many individuals and companies who provided amazing auction items, both for the online auction and the live auction. There were such quality items, events and experiences that were offered and it was so gratifying to see parents across the school support us through spirited bidding.
We have wonderful parents at VAS. Parents whose enthusiasm and energy for the school are channelled into helping organise and run events like the Quiz night. A huge thank you from all of us, for your time, your effort and your willingness to put fun into fundraising!
What a great community!
