Dear Parents
This week I thought I would share some of the wonderful descriptive writing our English Language Learners have been doing with their teacher Julie Hadlow.
English Language Learners use Pictures to Ignite their Imagination.
The Tornado
The strike of the tornado has begun. People are running from the terror and the violent force. The twister sucked up everything from the ground. The huge storm flattened, scattered and threw everything around.
By Eugene, Room 3, Year 6.
Mum warned us never to go into the forest
because “You will get lost”.
One night I went into the wood. I heard howling wolves, I heard growling giants, and I was lost.
I felt a hand on my back, I was petrified!!
By Guilhem, Room 6, Year 5.
The Flying Books
A wonderful blue sky sits in the air!
The books are flying like beautiful butterflies.
The pages are the wings.
The pages have pictures and words.
The letters are magical. The books are flying to a battle.
By Bryan Chu, Room 16, Year 4.
Robot
I was running around the field when I heard a crackling sound. Then I saw a huge colourful robot.
He said, “You are invited to my birthday party, the best party ever!”
By Chloe, Room 21, Year 3.

They cost $70 per Membership and the PTS retains 20% of this ($14 per sale) to help our fundraising to go towards paving the Victoria Avenue School shared BBQ area. A book will be sent home with each family to view in the first week of April, but if you wish to pre-order your copy, then you’ll receive some bonus early bird offers that are valid straight away. Who are we?
We are Twin Training Rugby Academy, we offer a rugby camp programme for kids during the term 1 & 2 school holidays (before and during the rugby season). All of our coaches are NZRU accredited at small black levels (under 5’s through to under 13’s). We cater for kids from under 7 age grade to under 13 age grade.
Where are we?
We hold the camp at College Rifles Rugby & Sports Club, located at 33 Haast St, Remuera, Auckland.
When is the Camp?
The 1st Camp takes place on the Monday 24th of April through to the Friday 28th of April (excluding Tuesday 25th of April as this is Anzac Day). The times of the programme throughout each day are from drop off time at 8.30 am to 3.30pm pick up time.
What is the Camp?
We are NZ’s most popular rugby camp with all of our camps selling out over the last 5 years. We focus on the core skills of junior rugby as well as practicing safe technique, primarily catch and pass, tackling, and evasion. We also organise rugby oriented fun games for the kids. Kids are put into a team throughout the week, culminating in a tournament on theFriday where the kids put their skills they have learnt into play.
Invite to NZ vs Korea Davis Cup Fixture
Tennis Auckland has invited VAS students and their families to the NZ vs Korea Davis Cup fixture on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th April, held at the ASB Tennis Arena in Auckland.
As our students have recently been recipients of the Tennis Hot Shots programme, Tennis Auckland thought they would love the opportunity to see some professional tennis in the flesh!
The event includes free entertainment for the whole family on Saturday and Sunday. Have fun exploring the giant inflatable, join in with some Tennis Olympics, have a hit on our red court and test your tennis skills to see if you can “beat the pro”. Have a go at the Treasure Trail or relax with a coffee and something to eat if that’s more your style – Davis Cup Family Days will have something for everyone and of course, plenty of chances to win some prizes!
Purchase your tickets here – family, adult and youth passes for one day or even three are available. Kids 12 and under are FREE!
