Dear Parents
Thank you to everyone who sent me feedback about the new system for ordering stationery. It was all very valuable and will improve the system we use next year.
I have been mindful the past two years that parents have been asked to buy a number of gluesticks, pencils and lots of exercise books at the start of the year in order to keep the stocks up in the classroom throughout the year. This has historically been done to save parents the hassle of having to buy more stationery throughout the year.
This year I culled the numbers of stationery items that were asked for and we now have stationery for sale in the office. I also wanted the lists sent out to parents because I had hoped that parents would be able to look through the list and delete items their child already had eg glue sticks, scissors, rulers etc.
I have had comment from a few parents about the numbers of items they purchased last year eg glue sticks, scissors and they are wondering where the leftover items went at the end of the year. Good point, which is why I want a system whereby parents can choose what they purchase if their child already has the item. Just as an FYI, there are not huge stockpiles of these around the school, pretty much everything was used during the year and as for the scissors, hmmm we don’t have large numbers of those lying around either.
It does seem from your feedback that this option was not easily found on the Office Max site. I know some of you took the list and purchased the items elsewhere at your convenience. I know that some of you with two or more children were just sent the stationery without any lists included, so you had no idea whose stationery was whose! I also know from the feedback that many of you found the new system easy and were pleased with it.
Thank you for your suggestions, they are very helpful. We will tweak the system for next year and hopefully be able to please all of the people all of the time!

The VAS Creative Shed
Blogs on Website and VAS App
Last year we introduced class blogs which you will find access to on our website and app. The blogs have been developed so that they remain with the teacher so you will be able to view not only 2016 posts for each class but archived posts from the teacher’s 2015 class. Blogs for teachers new to our school this year are currently being developed and should be ready for viewing in the coming weeks.
These blogs are intended to be a place to share class learning with you, our wider school community and potentially the world. Positive feedback is always appreciated so when viewing a post please don’t hesitate to post a comment.
