It is all go for the Gala on Sunday. Thanks goodness the rain has gone and the long term forecast is for a lovely day.
So much organisation has gone into this across a very tight time frame. Gaylene Fon took it on late last year and she, along with Shelley Cunningham and Amanda Dick, have put in a huge amount of time behind the scenes. However, there are also a large number of unsung heroes, all pulling together and helping put the Gala together so that it is a huge success.
I have just seen all the canvases which have been created by each room and are up for auction. They are fantastic! Each teacher is very proud of the children’s efforts to produce quality pieces of art.
The containers in the carpark are stuffed full of bric a brac for the white elephant stall. I bet there are some real treasures in there. Room 15 is overflowing with clothes and in just my quick look I spotted some lovely things. Room 23 has toys stacked everywhere. We have very generous parents because there are great looking bikes for sale, lots of lego, and thousands of toys which look in perfect condition.
There are all sorts of food options for sale as well as cake and cupcake stalls, herbs, preserves, jolly jars and an Easter stall. Games include coconut shy, smash palace, horizontal bungy, lego firewalk, sponge throw, putt to win. There are bouncy castles and of course our world famous (in Remuera) water slide. Of course it wouldn’t be a Gala without quick-fire raffles and mystery envelopes.
This is just a taste of what is on offer on Sunday, there is much, much more happening so come along. Gates open at 10am and by 3pm everything will be sold out, your children will have spent all your money and no doubt be full of sweets. It really is promising to be a lovely day for everyone.
