Overview
In line with MoE guidelines on Payments by Parents, we are no longer invoicing specifically for each
additional resource that is provided to your children. We are therefore requesting tax deductible
donations that are voluntary and for both general and specific purposes. A donations tax credit can
be claimed on all voluntary donations to our school.
Some specific extra-curricular items such as stationery or contributions towards transport may be
requested from time to time for some students.
1.0 General Donations
You will be aware that we provide a range of opportunities to enhance your children’s learning
experiences here at Victoria Avenue School. These opportunities are funded in part through
government grants and in part through parent donations as they have been in other years. Your
contributions enable us to staff and fund these additional learning opportunities for all students at
our school.
2.0 Specific Donations
In order to support the school’s drive to provide the best learning environment possible for our
children we are requesting an additional contribution to help the board fund additional specialist
staff and enhance our learning spaces to future proof our environment and learning programmes for
your children.
2.1 Specialist Learning
Specialist teachers and learning assistants are a valuable resource for our school. They
enable us to support those with specific learning needs and abilities in the classroom and
provide enhanced learning opportunities for everyone. Our government staffing allowances
and grants provide for classroom teachers, however additional staffing over and above this is
paid from the Board’s funds. In order to continue to provide the range of specialist teaching
and support in the form of specialist teachers and learning support staff, the Board would be
grateful for any additional donations for this specific use.
2.2 Learning Spaces
The Board has embarked on a 10 year master plan to enhance and future proof our school
environment. This is an ambitious project and will be funded in part by government funding.
Your donations will enable us to have the additional extras that ensure our VAS students
have the optimal learning environment in which to flourish.
