The Board held its seventh meeting of the year on 2 November, again due to the lockdown we held this meeting via Zoom.

We are all waiting for instruction from the Ministry of Education (MoE) as to how the school will operate once we are permitted to go back to face-to-face learning.

Jane Bush has confirmed that all orders from the MoE have been followed to date, and will be followed in the future, including the Government’s Public Health Order in relation to mandatory vaccination. This means that all teachers and staff will have received their first dose by Monday the 15th of November and that those who are not fully vaccinated will be required to undergo weekly COVID-19 testing.  No disruption to the operation of the school is anticipated due to these mandates.

The Board expressed concern about the wellbeing and stress levels of children, teachers and the community because of the lockdown and not being able to operate under normal conditions.

We recognized the hard work the teachers have been putting into keeping the children engaged as the lockdown drags out, whilst juggling their own children or other commitments at home.

Numerous short and longer terms property projects were reviewed including:

  • Toilet upgrade
  • Improving netball courts and outdoor learning spaces
  • Block 1 improvements (rooms 1-6)

Once the plans are finalized they will be shared with the community.

The school has also completed all the maintenance on the playground equipment so it will be great to have these back in use when the children get back to school.

The school financials are still on budget and as expected.  The first draft of the 2022 budget was presented and should be finalized by the end of the year.
