All the long summer holidays teachers hope that they get a student like him in their class. Harry listens, Harry thinks, Harry improves, Harry works… He works and works, and works…all the time and every time. Harry never gives up. It is hard to believe that Harry started school just this year. You should see his writing, hear his reading, watch out for his maths. He is a kind and thoughtful friend. He is a leader who listens to all. His manners are impeccable. He is ‘Our Best Always!’ He is Room 11’s star and all of Room 11 are proud of him. Go Harry! 10 December Enna Pesic ~ Room 15
Enna is a lovely, thoughtful, caring and helpful student. If anyone is hurt she is the first to show concern and to offer assistance, or if someone is feeling sad she will cheer them up. She is always ready to help, no matter what the task, and often anticipates what is needed without being asked. Enna confidently shares her ideas, knowledge and experiences within our learning community. She quickly settles to tasks, always endeavouring to complete her work to a high standard. Enna has been a delightful class member and Room 15 has enjoyed having her in our class. Thank you Enna for your valued contribution. 10 December Mathew McFelin ~ Room 3
Room Three are lucky to have Matthew as their pupil of the week. He is a friendly and enthusiastic support to all the students in the senior school and he always involves himself positively in class. Matthew works diligently and is trying to focus on producing the best possible results in all areas. He selflessly assists others whenever he is able, regardless of their age, competes enthusiastically in all sports events and tries hard to ensure that everyone gets a fair deal and an equal opportunity. Matthew’s attitude to all things is a credit to him. He is an extremely valued and important member of the Senior Syndicate, Room Three and the entire Victoria Avenue learning community. 3 December Amelia is a quiet, sensible girl who tries her best in all areas of her school life. She takes life seriously and displays maturity beyond her years.
She is independent and self-sufficient, and enjoys tackling new challenges. She has made excellent academic progress this year as a result of her conscientiousness. Amelia is sensitive and friendly. She is helpful and caring towards others, and is always fully involved in the activities of our classroom. She is responsible and reliable. She fully deserves to be Room 14’s Pupil of the Week! 3 December Ben Smith - Room 13
Introducing Ben Smith, Room 13’s Pupil of the Week. Ben is a super-enthusiastic student who likes nothing better than to entertain the class with his latest news items. After listening to Ben’s talks we feel as though we were there at the time, sharing the experience with him. Ben is a determined boy who is excited by the challenge of learning. He likes to ask tricky questions during inquiries to see if he can think of questions the scientists have yet to ask! Ben, you are a great learner, a good sportsman and a lovely friend in Room 13. Ricky is a happy and popular pupil who displays a wonderful sense of humour. He listens attentively, is keen to answer questions, and always tries his best. Ricky has gained in confidence this year, and shown significant improvement in all curriculum areas, especially with his English language skills. He has a caring thoughtful attitude towards others, and is always willing to help out within the classroom. Thank you very much Ricky for your contribution to our learning community. We at Victoria Avenue School will miss you, and Room 6 wishes you the best of luck for your future life back in Korea. 19 November Emma Irwin - Room 10
Emma is a delightful and valued member of Room 10. She is enthusiastic about everything she does and gives 100% effort. You can see this in her fabulous story writing. Emma is super organised and Room 10 and Miss Pennell couldn't have managed with out Emma's friendly reminders each day! She always has an exciting story to tell from her weekends away. Emma is really cheerful and has such a great sense of humour. Thanks Emma for being such a superstar! 12 November Christian Hoffman - Room 2
Christian is an enthusiastic and conscientious student who has worked hard throughout the year to improve in all areas of his learning. He displays maturity and a willingness to listen to others to better himself and is prepared to make changes to show growth and development. Christian has shown he can be reliable and tackles any responsibilities with a positive attitude and commitment. He has the ability to make new students feel welcome and accepted into the class environment. He has a great sense of humour and always tries to make people smile, showing a sensitive and caring nature. Thank you for being such a valued student of Room Two’s learning community. 5 November William Meredith - Room 12 William shows huge enthusiasm in all he does. He is a friendly member of Room 12. He has a well developed sense of right and wrong and always looks out for others. He tries hard and his work and reading have shown huge improvement. His face lights up when participating in all activities. He has a wonderful general knowledge and is always willing to share his ideas with the class. He has a great sense of humour and always laughs with gusto. He loves sports, especially golf, tennis and cricket. One day we will see you on TV William. Reach for the stars! 5 November

She always starts the day with a smile on her face and has a positive attitude. Charlie is a responsible, self-motivated learner who strives to do her best in anything she does. Her hard work is reflected in her achievements this year. Charlie is kind and caring and is always ready to give a helping hand to anyone who needs it whether it is one of her peers or her teacher. She is a great role model and demonstrates good manners especially on the mat. Charlie is an active listener who listens to instructions carefully and participates in class discussion. It is an absolute pleasure to have Ryan as our pupil of the week! He is a hardworking, motivated student, who always aims to do his best. Ryan is an incredibly talented artist who always produces amazingly detailed works of art and very cool cartoons. Ryan is an empathetic and supportive classmate. He is always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, including Miss McEwan! Ryan never forgets his manners and treats others with respect and kindness. He has such a positive attitude towards learning and always thinks of others before himself. Ryan comes to school every day with a smile on his face, and usually has a funny joke or story to share. We are so fortunate to have Ryan in our Room 1 team. It is lovely to have such a positive, kind and thoughtful person like Ryan in our class. Ryan, you should be extremely proud of your effort and achievement so far this year! It will be exciting to see you excel in all of your future endeavors! 29 October
Henry Holland - Room 4
Henry is a conscientious and hardworking pupil who deserves recognition for his excellent achievement and work ethic. He sets high standards and he is able to maintain high levels of concentration. He readily contributes to our learning community, whether it is sharing his ideas, questions and knowledge with his classmate, or helping others. Henry is an absolute pleasure to teach and is a very valued member of Room 4! Henry, you should be extremely proud of all you have achieved so far this year. Annabelle is a delight to have in Room 20. She brings her enthusiasm for learning and a positive attitude to school every single day. She is a hardworking and very conscientious member of our class. Annabelle applies herself well to all class, group and independent tasks and always strives to do her best. She is always the first person to help someone in need and is a very loyal and kind friend to those around her. Annabelle has beautiful manners and is a superb role model for her peers. Congratulations Sophie you are very deserving of this special award! You are a superb role model to your peers each day. You are keen to take on challenges and complete all tasks to a very high standard. Each morning I know you will arrive equipped with a studious attitude and a mature respect for your peers. You listen carefully and work independently with a self-motivation for your learning. The way you genuinely take an interest in others and listen to what people around you have to offer should be highly commended. We all love your polite nature, always using lovely manners. Sarah is the perfect choice for Pupil of the Week! She is an incredibly bubbly, enthusiastic and positive girl who is so much fun to be around. Sarah entertains the class with her stories, her laughter and her ever-present smile. She is always keen to help others, and make everyone feel included. This year Sarah has worked especially hard on her writing, and has written some wonderful creative pieces that she should be very proud of. She has shown persistence with her writing effort, which is super. Sarah has become more resilient, and it is wonderful to see the way that she is able to deal with a variety of situations, accepting the good with the bad, in a more mature way. Her love of life, and passion for learning is obvious, and it’s a big part of what makes Sarah the special student she is in Room 17. Well done Sarah!! 15 October Thomas Jackson - Room 15
Thomas is a quiet conscientious student who always settles to tasks quickly endeavouring to do his best whether it is within the classroom or outdoors. He readily contributes to our learning community sharing his knowledge and ideas while respecting the views of others. Thomas is a polite, well mannered boy who is popular with his peers. He has a lovely sense of humour, listens attentively in class and is always ready to help when needed. We are privileged to have Thomas in our class. 24 September Cormac Hodson - Room 14
Cormac is an intelligent, capable boy who tries his best in all areas of his school life. He has grown in maturity this year, and he faces new challenges with energy and enthusiasm. He listens carefully to others and settles quickly to the task in hand. He is able to work both co-operatively and independently. He is a sensitive, friendly person always fully involved in the activities of our classroom. With his polite manner and cheerful face, he fully deserves to be Room 14’s Pupil of the Week. 17 September Seaton Cousins-Baxter - Room 19
Room 19 are proud to celebrate Seaton as their Pupil of the Week. Congratulations! Seaton is a delightful member of our class with a good sense of humour and creative imagination. He has worked hard this year and his ability to produce work of both quality and quantity is continually increasing. Seaton shows a particular strength in mathematics and he enjoys sharing his ideas with the rest of his maths group. He also adds his personal touch to the artwork he produces in class. Charlotte Ng Wai Shing - Room 11
Charlotte started school just this year but you would never guess that she hadn`t been here for a lot longer. She is a caring and thoughtful friend to everyone. If anyone needs help Charlotte is quick to offer it. Her beautiful friendly smile lights up our room each morning, along with her cheery greeting, she gets us ready for the day. She loves all learning and she is enthusiastic and diligent in her learning tasks. She takes great pride in her work and always presents it well. We are so lucky to have Charlotte in our room. 10 September Renee Sayal - Room 18
Renee is a quiet, conscientious student, who always settles quickly and carries on with her work independently. She is a kind and caring friend, never too busy to help others around her, including the teacher! Renee is a talented artist, and is often asked for art advice by her peers. It is lovely to see her passion for art grow, as she is frequently spotted drawing, receiving much admiration for her work. Never one to complain, she works hard and puts her best effort into all areas of the curriculum. She is a delight to have in the class, always happy and cheerful, brightening up our day with her sunny smile. Renee, Room 18 are privileged to have you as a member of our Learning Community, and we are so proud you are our Pupil of the Week. 10 September Safwan Alwahb - Room 17
Safwan is a great choice to be Room 17’s Pupil of the Week, because he is a boy who is always a model VAS student. He has the most enthusiastic attitude towards learning, and his efforts have been rewarded with great progress. He should feel very proud of the way he has improved in literacy and numeracy. The way Safwan manages himself and his own learning is a credit to him. He always got to Rainbow Reading on time without being reminded, and he diligently makes sure he remembers to have his inhaler each day. Safwan is a quiet student, who is caring and kind to everyone else in the classroom. He is helpful and generous to others, allowing others to join his games and he will assist if someone is finding their work difficult. Room 17 are very proud of Safwan because he follows our school motto “Our Best Always”. Congratulations! 3 September Christian Smyth - Room 6
Room 6 is proud to celebrate Christian Smyth as the Pupil Of the Week. Christian is a positive and enthusiastic learner who offers so much to Room 6’s learning community. Christian is a leader both in the classroom and on the sports field. In the classroom he is focused with his work, and perseveres until the desired outcome is achieved. He leads by example. On the sports field Christian is a fierce and determined competitor, who gives one hundred percent whether winning or losing. He inspires and leads his teammates with his attitude and performance. Christian is always friendly and respectful to peers and adults. He is kind hearted with a lovely warmth to his personality. Everybody appreciates having Christian in Room 6 and he is a highly valued student at Victoria Avenue School. 3 September Jamila Cheung - Room 13
Jamila is a delightful member of Room 13. She has a caring heart, a sunny disposition and a big smile. Jamila looks after all her friends and tries to resolve any disputes with talk and compromise. Jamila is also a role model for her peers. Josh is one of the super hard workers in Room 10. He has a positive attitude and will give anything a try. Josh is a great friend and a fantastic helper around the classroom. We admire Josh's passion for rugby and enjoy listening to his exciting news like his photo with All Black Dan Carter! Thank you Josh for your lovely manners and being a great role model for your friends. 20 August Tayla Clasper - Room 3 Room Three are lucky to have Tayla as their Pupil of the Week. She is a friendly and enthusiastic support to all the students in the senior school and she always has a bright welcoming smile to each and every person she meets.

Sebastian is an all round super star in Room 8! He approaches all school activities, both inside and outside the classroom with maturity and determination. Sebastian always tries his best, in all curriculum areas. When he is not at school he is busy practising his karate, and Room 8 have loved hearing about his achievements and seeing some of his tricky moves! Sebastian is a kind, caring and loyal friend, who always looks out for others. He shows respect to his peers and teachers, and is always willing to help. Keep up the great work Sebastian, we love having you in our class. Emma Collard - Room 5
Emma is an enthusiastic and motivated learner who approaches all new learning opportunities with interest. She questions thoughtfully, listens attentively and perseveres to answer her inquiries with detail and good understanding. Emma manages her time effectively. She takes pride in all she does and always strives to achieve her very best. Emma works cooperatively on group tasks. She accepts a wide range of responsibilities, which Emma fulfils admirably. Isabella is a compassionate and supportive member of Room 2 who displays empathy towards her classmates. She always enters the classroom with a positive attitude and a huge smile. She is respectful of the thoughts and opinions of others and willingly participates in all activities. Isabella has an enquiring mind and has worked hard to achieve her ‘Best Always’. Isabella displays leadership qualities; she is extremely reliable and tackles all responsibilities with a mature attitude. Isabella is a treasured student of Room Two’s learning community! Sam Devereux-Barnes - Room 7 We are proud to have Sam as our Pupil of the Week. Sam is a very bright and cheerful class member, he always comes into the class with a big smile on his face and an enthusiastic “good morning Mrs Young” You can’t help but to respond to his bubbly personality. Sam is very caring and is eager to help the teacher any chance he gets. Sam also has lovely manners and is polite to adults and his peers. William is a kind and friendly member of Room 20. He is a positive, respectful and hard-working student who produces work to a high standard. William is the first to offer help to those around him, showing patience and maturity when assisting others. He always strives to please and everyone likes being William’s friend because he is always smiling, helpful and fun!!! Ricah Sharma - Room 1
Ricah is a hard working, self-motivated and diligent student who always tries her absolute best in all that she does. She settles into tasks quickly and always produces high quality work. Ricah is SO reliable, you can always count on her to get the job done. Her focus, dedication to learning and her constant strive for excellence, are all things to be greatly admired! Ricah is always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, and never forgets her manners. She always comes to school with huge smile on her face and a positive attitude. Ricah loves her friends, she treats them with kindness and consideration. Ricah’s kindness also extend to other children she comes across on the playground. You will often see her helping out the juniors and making sure they are okay. Ricah is an absolute pleasure to teach and is a very valued member of Room 1! Aleksandar is a very special member of Room 18. He comes into class each day with a positive attitude and a friendly greeting for everyone. Aleksandar gives his best to everything he does, always producing work to the highest of standards. His ability to work independently and take responsibility for his own learning ensures that he always gets the most out of school life. His gentle and caring nature allows him to cooperate with any member of class, no matter what situation. He is a quiet, polite and conscientious worker, who has gained much confidence this year, and should be proud of all he has achieved. Aleksandar likes to be organised, and produces the neatest handwriting you will ever see! Aleksandar, it has been a pleasure seeing the growth and development you have made this year. Room 18 are so lucky to have you as a member of our Learning Community, and we are proud you are our Pupil of the Week! Kiran Chung - Room 15 Kiran is a quiet, conscientious student who settles quickly to his work and always endeavours to do his best at whatever task he is given. He readily contributes to our learning community, whether it is sharing his ideas, questions and knowledge with his classmates, or helping others. Kiran enjoys coming to school and his lovely smile, gentle nature and quiet sense of humour are enjoyed by all of Room 15. We are very fortunate to have Kiran in our class. Eunice Yoon - Room 6 Room 6 is proud to celebrate Eunice Yoon as our pupil of the week. Eunice comes to school every day with the school motto “our best always” at the fore- front of her mind, it is evident in all that she does.
Eunice is focussed and hard working giving one hundred percent effort to her work. She is always positive and makes the most of any situation. Eunice is always respectful and considerate to adults and children alike. Eunice has a quiet manner but her actions speak louder than words. She is aware of the needs of others and always has a kind word or deed to offer. Eunice has a twinkle in her eye and an inviting smile. Everyone always knows they will be accepted by her warm and caring personality. Eunice is a role model to her peers both in her academic achievement and personal conduct. Hugo Ireland - Room 10
Room 10 are proud to announce that Hugo Ireland is our superstar pupil of the week. Hugo is a fantastic role model and listens carefully to any instructions. He can always be counted on to be the first one organised and ready for learning. Hugo is fantastic worker and is just zooming along with his reading, writing and maths! He is kind to his friends and is always polite to adults and visitors in the class. But not just that, Hugo has a great sense of fun too, sharing his lovely smile with us all of the time. Hugo, thank you for being such a antastic member of our class! Saacha, you are a caring friend who always has time to listen to others and you share your bright smile and gentle manner with everyone you meet.

Lucy is a delightful member of our class. She always wears a smile and she is pleasant towards others. She happily shares her love of books and characters with others around her. When working in a group Caitlin respects the opinion of others, and is always a careful listener. Room 13 is proud to celebrate Florence Akauola as their Pupil of the Week. Florence is the kind of girl that people like to be around. She has a great sense of fun, heaps of positive energy and a big smile. She also knows how to be a good and caring friend to others. Florence has a good attitude to learning and is always willing to listen carefully and work hard. She takes great pride in her achievements. One of Florence’s special qualities is being able to think for herself. She may only be five years old, but if she notices that something needs doing then she just gets on and does it, without being asked. What a super star! Congratulations, Florence on being Room 13’s Pupil of the Week Fa Afuhia Fia- Room 20 Fa Afuhia is a charming, engaged and bubbly member of Room 20. Fa Afuhia’s distinctive voice is most often heard helping a classmate out, showing encouragement to others and participating enthusiastically in class discussions. Fa Afuhia knows what it means to be a good friend. He is the first person to be there for a person in need and always includes others in games at lunchtime. Fa Afuhia takes pride in his work, always presenting his books and other work in his neatest writing and to the best of his ability. Fa Afuhia is a fantastic listener who enjoys being given a goal, which he endeavours to meet 100% of the time. Room 20 think we are so lucky to have Fa Afuhia in our class this year and know we will never be short of some great laughs with him around. India is a compassionate, empathetic and supportive classmate. She will always lend a helping hand to those in need. India always has a huge smile on her face and is very good at putting a smile on the faces of people around her. She has a great sense of humour, and tells very funny stories. She is a loyal friend and a valued member of our room one team. India is an absolute pleasure to teach and is a role model for every member of Room 1! It is lovely to have such a vibrant, kind and happy person like India in our class. India, you should be extremely proud of your effort and achievement so far this year. We are all looking forward to seeing you excel in all of your future endeavours! Samuel Chung - Room 18
We are so proud to have Samuel as our Pupil of the Week. Samuel is a hardworking and motivated student, who always puts 100% effort into everything he does, completing work independently, efficiently, and to the highest of standards. Samuel is a delightful member of our class, polite and considerate, he is in fact, the embodiment of the values we expect of our V.A.S students. Never failing to lend a helping hand to both his teacher and classmates, he is a role model for others, and is always “Mr. Perfect” while sitting on the mat! 30 April Molly Want - Room 17
Room 17 is delighted to have Molly as our school’s pupil of the week. Molly is one of the most friendly students at VAS and she will always share her smile and be a friend to anyone who needs one. Molly is a dedicated and determined worker, who can be counted on to try her best and keep on working hard until a task is finished. Her manners and kindness to others are always appreciated, by her peers and her teachers. She is a great role model student. Congratulations Molly, keep up the great work and thank you for being such a great member of our learning community. We are very proud of you in Room 17. Nina Dally - Room 2 Nina is a dependable and conscientious student who respects and follows the school motto, ‘Our Best Always’. She understands her responsibilities as a individual and a role model for the school and shows a mature mind in a range of situations. Nina has an infectious smile which always touches someone, to make their day. A valued and important student of Room Two’s learning community. 23 April Monet Hewitt - Room 18
Monet is a kind, gentle, and thoughtful member of our learning community. She always starts the day with a smile and a warm “good morning.” She is a quiet and conscientious worker, taking pride in the presentation of her work, which is always completed to the highest standard. Monet cooperates well with her peers, and sets a good example for her classmates. Always polite and well-mannered, Monet is a delight to teach, and we are so lucky to have her in Room 18! Samuel Jackson - Room 21 Room 21 is extremely privileged to have such a respectful and considerate class member as Sam. We love the way he is always reliable and a positive role model for his peers. He listens to instructions and uses his initiative to complete tasks with his own creativity and flare. Sam genuinely takes an interest in what his classmates have to offer and is also eager to share his own views. His ability to work independently and take responsibility for his learning should be commended. We all value his sense of humour and warm character. Sam starts and finishes the day with a friendly smile and encourages others along the way. Congratulations Sam! You should be very proud of your keen attitude and effort. Thank you for making the most out of Victoria Avenue School and learning with us in Room 21. 19 March Phoebe Cotter - Room 10
Phoebe brightens every morning with her friendly greeting and warm smile. She is kind to each member of our class and is always helpful. Phoebe gives her best in everything she does. She writes her stories with such enthusiasm and always takes care with her lovely illustrations and artwork. Phoebe listens carefully to others and always shares her ideas thoughtfully. She has creative ideas and really cares about the creatures of our planet – especially the kiwi! Phoebe, we are so lucky to have such cheerful person in our class. Andrew Evans - Room 16
Andrew is a cheerful and friendly member of the Room 16 learning community, he is a good friend and a great role model. Andrew comes to school absolutely determined to do his very best in everything, everyday, even when he finds the activity really tricky! He likes to be organised, listens carefully, focuses on his work, and is always willing to help others. Andrew has worked particularly hard at managing himself this term and is achieving fantastic results – well done Andrew, Room 16 love having you as one of the class! Thomas Harvison - Room 1 Thomas is a vibrant and bubbly member of Room One. He always comes to school with a huge smile on his face which brightens up every morning and lights up the room. Thomas is always willing to give things a go and gives everything his best shot, even when the task at hand may seem difficult at first. He works hard to produce high quality work at school and in his home learning which is something to be very proud of. Thomas uses his initiative and seeks out new information to answer questions that he has. He often comes to school with fascinating information which he has learned through self directed study. Along with working hard, Thomas is also very creative and innovative. He has the ability to think about things from different view points and is prepared to research ideas to find out more about them. Thomas is a valued member of our team in Room One. He is an absolute pleasure to teach. Thomas, you should be very proud of your effort and achievement so far this year. We all look forward to seeing you continue to grow and learn! 12 March Hannah Bautista - Room 9
Hannah deserves an award every day for her superb manners, great attitude to school and her enthusiasm.
She arrives at school always willing to help and do her best. Hannah is a cheerful girl and her bright smile lights up Room 9. She is a good friend and always includes others in games and activities. A careful listener, Hannah completes her work to a very high standard and gives 110% effort to everything she does. Well done Hannah, we are so lucky to have you as an outstanding member of our class. Harrison Miller - Room 4 Harrison is a motivated, hardworking student, who always aims for the best in everything he does. He focuses on the finer details, producing work that is always top of the line. Harrison is positive and thinks of others before himself. Harrison always gets out of bed on the right side in the morning, coming to school always wearing his smile, never having a frown. This attitude is infectious to all in Room 4! We all enjoy having such a lovely individual in our class. Harrison you should be very proud of your efforts so far this year and we know you will always give your “best always”. 5 March Holly Liefting - Room 8
Holly is a kind and caring member of Room 8. She is an excellent listener and always follows instructions very carefully. She works really hard and follows the school motto Our Best Always. Holly respects her peers and is able to work and play happily with other pupils. We can always count on Holly to be doing the right thing, in the right place, at the right time. Well done on making such a wonderful start to Year 2 Holly. Eli Harris - Room 14 Eli is a happy friendly boy who is always willing to help in Room 14.
He is kind and caring towards everyone. He listens carefully to instructions. He tries his best in all areas of his work. He displays maturity and independence and he is learning to deal with new challenges in school life. 26 February Charlie Collard - Room 17
Room 17 is so proud of Charlie Collard who is the VAS Pupil of the Week. Charlie is a special friend to us all, making sure we are all included and feeling cared for. She comes into the classroom every day with a cheerful greeting and a large smile. Charlie has the most positive attitude a teacher could wish for…always trying her best and working so hard. Her writing is very entertaining, and she has even written and published her own book this year. Thank you Charlie for always thinking of others and for being a super role-model in our class. Finn Smith - Room 2 Finn is a conscientious and diligent student who strives to give his best at all times. An empathetic listener, Finn is aware that everyone is entitled to have their say. He has established steady work habits and taken on many responsibilities, making him one of Room Two‘s many role models. A co-operative team player, who is always ready to assist others in need, Finn is a valued member of Room Two’s learning community. 19 February Fenna Goldfinch - Room 21
Fenna has made a very positive start to the new year in Room 21. She arrives at school with a cheerful smile, and shares her contagious enthusiasm all day long! Fenna always uses her active listening skills, so she can complete her work to a very high standard. We all appreciate the way she treats others with respect and listens to their ideas. Fenna looks for ways she can help out in the class and playground. She is a superb role model of our VAS values. Thank you Fenna for your sense of humour and considerate character.
