Board of Trustees

The Board is responsible for the governance of our school setting the direction and meeting the legal and statutory requirements. This specifically includes the responsibility for implementing the Charter, setting and reviewing goals, implementing policies and assessing performance in relation to these. The Principal, (as Chief Executive), is charged with the responsibility of achieving these objectives through effective day to day management of the school’s staff and resources.

  • The Board of Trustees functions with specialist sub-committees; Finance, Human Resources, Property, Policy, Communication and Parent/Teacher subcommittee (P.T.S.).
  • Term of Office – Board members are elected by the school’s community once every three years.
  • Board meetings are open meetings and are held monthly.
  • Notification of each meeting is via the weekly newsletter.

Parent Representatives Elected June 2016

Nicky Hall

I was elected onto the Board of Trustees in June 2013. I am married to Peter Meredith. We have two children (William who previously attended VAS and is now in Year 7, and Fergus in Year 4 at VAS).

I have a legal background with over 20 years’ experience, both in-house and in private practice. I am currently a senior litigation lawyer at Simpson Grierson. I am also a faculty member of the New Zealand Law Society Litigation Skills Programme and a member of the New Zealand Law Society’s Practice Approval Committee.

Anna Scott

I was elected onto the Board of Trustees in 2016. My husband, Tony, and I have 2 children, Zach in year 5 & Abby in year 1. I have been involved in the VAS community since Zach started in 2012, we have made many great friends here.

I have a degree in Engineering Science (Auckland) and have worked in Construction finance & project management in Kuala Lumpur and Investment Banking in London.  I am currently working at Hobson Wealth Partners as a business & program manager, helping them execute their growth strategy after renaming themselves & moving away from Macquarie Private Wealth NZ .

David Shields

I joined in the Board in September 2017, assuming responsibility for the finance spokesperson role.

I am married to Paula and we have two daughters: Charlotte, who is in year 2, and Tessa, who is due to start school in 2018.

My background is in accounting and finance. I am a Director in the Deal Advisory (Corporate Finance) team at KPMG, leading projects in the areas of valuation, financial modelling, mergers/acquisitions and equity capital markets transactions.

Our family thoroughly enjoys being part of the Vicky Ave community.

Bridget Snelling

I was selected to join the Board in August 2017. I began my career as a solicitor working in mergers and acquisitions. I then moved into marketing and communications and have held a variety of senior positions  in PR, media and technology. I am currently the Head of Business Marketing at ANZ bank. My husband Ben and I have three children, Tommy (6), Jemima (4) and Tallula (6 weeks). We love being part of the VAS community and look forward to many happy years ahead supporting the school.

Bob Weston

BW mugshot Aug 2013 cropI have served on the Board of Trustees since November 2011. My wife Anna and I have three sons; Toby finished at VAS in 2012, Zachary finished in 2016 and Nick is currently in Year 4.
I was raised in Auckland, and have B.Com and MBA degrees. I own and run an engineering company which provides equipment and specialist services to the power generation and oil/gas industries, with a current staff of around 60 located in Auckland and Taranaki.
